BLACK Rebel Motorcycle Club return with the release of a brand new album, Baby 81, on April 30, preceded by single ‘Weapon of Choice’ on April 16.
Fans will get the first chance to hear the new music when the group arrive in the UK this week to support The Killers on their arena tour and play a handful of special headline shows.
The shows will be the bands first UK dates since 2005.
With their 2005 critically acclaimed album ‘Howl’, BRMC proved their stalwart musicianship with their own brand of stripped down Americana and are now deftly transitioning back towards the color-saturated wash of guitars that made fans fall for the band in the first place.
Now, Baby 81, named after an infant admitted to the hospital in the wake of 2004’s tsunami who was claimed by nine different mothers until it found its way back to its own family, is an ambitious, powerful, emotional, guitar-driven rock n’ roll record that is guaranteed to get people jumping and thinking.
‘Weapon of Choice’ showcases the album spectacularly with a blistering mix of driving guitars and an anthemic chorus.
Combining the classic songwriting of ‘Howl’ (2005) with the sleazy rock n’ roll of the band’s first two albums ‘Black Rebel Motorcycle Club’ (2001) and ‘Take Them On, On Your Own’(2003) – ‘Baby 81’ shows the three piece (Peter Hayes - guitars/vocals, Robert Levon Been - bass/vocals/keys and Nick Jago - drums) at the top of their game.
